That's great!

Those are so adorable! Thank you for sharing! Is that sand you have in there? Is it only in the broody pen, or the whole coop? I feel like I have asked this before...:smack

the whole coop floor is sand, I like it in general but love it for the broodies in the winter! They can get the little ones scratching as soon as they can toddle, even when the coop is in the 20s!

I am amazed that Lacey lets Mindy that close without any concern.....has me scratching my head????

Oh, my! That is hilarious!
And who the heck has enough energy to clean their basement on a Monday?!? :th

Haha! Me apparently, since I have a day all to myself where I don't have to go anywhere. I have some stuff in my minivan that needs to go down there, so I have to get it organized.

That's grea with the sand, I may do that eventually. Especially for the Brody chambers!

BTW, mail came, no package. They will be stinky by the time they get here. :rant

The hens are so used to Mindy and Dillon they don't pay any attention to them...the chicks often crawl on Mindy and the hen will scratch through her tail when she is laying in with them. These hens were raised with Mindy though, when they were chicks they crawled on her also... when roosters sound an alert for anything the hens and chicks run to the dogs and will even duck under them.

An older video, this was Connie and Bess with their first hatch, they co raised the chicks and another of their sisters hatched 4 or 5 days later and joined them, so 3 hens raised like 15 chicks together.

Poor Mindy finally had to sit up when the pecking on her head got a bit rough, can't hardly blame her, lol.

Duh:

Even when she moved, none of the chicks or hens flinched a bit....

You might only need to get your pipes (either inside the house, or between the septic tank and the drain field) cleaned out...had that happen to me....idiot septic guy wanted me to dig up the pipes and replace for about 5K only when I refused and called his boss, did they agreed to unclog the roots that had grown though the pipe.....no problem in 10yrs.....my two cents....

:thumbsup

That's awesome! Does the "drakes leaving" mean that they are going to freezer camp?
Thankfully no, we didn't here. We do have a generator thankfully, though. We do need to put aside some water in case of that. Although I suppose we could bring buckets in from the hot tub. :p. I kept worrying about a tree falling on my house or the coop. Love my pine trees, but I do get concerned when the winds are this bad.
Question for you dear! We have a fireplace that came with a Osborne wood stove insert. What are the benefits of having an insert? We've never had a fireplace before so we don't know either way.

A member from Alabama has a pond, and is in "need" of more ducks. I may be giving her the girls that my late BIL was going to take last year. :fl
:Hide It's an animal swap. I'm taking her daughter's hamster and hermit crab.

I'm hoping my muscovies start to lay sometime soon :)

Do you have white chicken eggs? Muscovy lay in the chickens' nest box.
