Thanks, fisherlady!  I don't have any Sevin dust, but I could get some.  I do have diatomaceous earth, so I could maybe try that in the meantime.  I didn't see any sign of mites when I looked last night, but

Here's the 24 hour update on my little old Chamomile.  She seems to be improving!  I just went down to check on her, and she was standing, walking a bit, and had her eyes open!  She had me really worried this morning, because she was breathing too fast, almost panting, with her mouth open--it started to look like she might be in pain/distress.  But now her breathing is slow and steady, and she has her mouth closed again.  She has also gotten a bit feistier--when I try to open her beak to give her the treated water, she tries to pull away and fight a bit, which she wasn't strong enough to do before.

I noticed from the label that I could give her a few mls of the Nutridrench full strength, so I did that around 1pm, along with another 20ml of water dosed with Corid, electrolytes, and I also added Terramycin (probably not ideal, looks like Tylan50 would be more broad spectrum, but it's the only antibiotic I have here).  We'll see.  It's the first time I've felt even a little optimistic about her chances so far, but she's certainly far from out of the woods.  At least we can hold off on the funeral arrangements for now (my 8yo daughter was soo sad about Chamomile last night, and asked if we could bury her tonight and have a little memorial for her--we haven't done that for any other chicken, but Chamomile is pretty special).

ETA - I started writing this half an hour ago, and got sidetracked with work.  But when I just went down to check on her again now, she is drinking on her own!  Not just a little, either--she looked like she was thirsty and drinking quite a bit, so I put the treated water in the waterer, and now she is treating herself! :)

I'm glad to hear that she's peeking back up! That's wonderful news!

So last night when collecting eggs, I noticed one of the nests had a bunch of black feathers in it. That was what happened before my current broody went broody. I wonder...

Also, my turkey has plopped herself in a corner of the coop. She is definitely trying to hacth eggs. I'll probably try to break her of it soon.

Edited to add. She is sitting in the nest now and screamed and bit me like sister did before. We shall see....

Current broody on the right, possible broody on the left. Confused Silkie in the middle...

Hummm,,,,broody central.....and you haven't even hatched a Fisher 'special'....you're going to get a rep.....

I've got my first eggs collected from my separation pens being set tonight. Not exactly a ton but there's 7 lav ameraucana, 8 CCL and 4 silkie going in. I'm hoping they lay better for next week's collection. I may be setting a dozen turkey eggs tonight too...most likely lol
Excellent! I am seeing a lot of demand for Lavender Ams around here. Hope you get a really good hatch.

I set 384 eggs tonight, and move 50+ chicks to brooders. I hope the demand for chicks is there when these are hatching.

Candled some eggs from last week and the Silver Ameraucanas, that had really poor fertility, are almost all developing now. I guess switching roos made a difference.

Anyone here in Crawford Co?  I have been emailing a guy there that has some chickens I really want. He can ship, but if I could find a way to get them without the trauma and expense of shipping that would be preferable.
I'm also planning to buy a flock of black and chocolate muscovies. I've never kept them before, but the colored ones are pretty and they are notoriously good broodies.
Did I mention that I have 250 chicks on order from Sandhill and 25 bantam Ameraucanas from John Blehm? Gonna have to build more coops this year for sure.

I think more coops sounds fabulous!

Wow, yeah, I'd hope there's a demand for chicks then lol. I'm glad that changing out your to seems to have made a difference. I've been seeing a lot of people on the Facebook poultry pages starting to look for chicks. I have a few orders but nothing major. I'm hoping one they're here I'll be able to sell them.

I did see that rural king posted an ad saying that they're now accepting special orders for chicks. I wonder if they're going to destroy my market again this year :/ Obviously, I have more unique breeds than they do but I'm still a bit nervous.

I'm so glad that she seems much better! Hoping for a quick recovery and more years with her!

She thinks she's 'all that, and a bag a chips' . I kinda think she's right.
Gorgeous!!!
