So last night when collecting eggs, I noticed one of the nests had a bunch of black feathers in it. That was what happened before my current broody went broody. I wonder...


Also, my turkey has plopped herself in a corner of the coop. She is definitely trying to hacth eggs. I'll probably try to break her of it soon.


Edited to add. She is sitting in the nest now and screamed and bit me like sister did before. We shall see....


Current broody on the right, possible broody on the left. Confused Silkie in the middle...

Hummm,,,,broody central.....and you haven't even hatched a Fisher 'special'....you're going to get a rep.....

I guess there are worse reputations to have...

She thinks she's 'all that, and a bag a chips' . I kinda think she's right.

Welcome to the fun! I am in upper bucks county. Having chickens is so much fun. Just be sure to get or build a bigger coop than you think you want. I didn't follow that advice an I was soon packed to the gills. This time around I just bought and old 10x12 shed. It's filling up fast.

You and me both! The sap is flowing again now that is warmed up. We'll be coming that down this weekend (And probably next weekend too lol)

Lol, good, he's on track! Mine has finally accepted that I'm obsessed and no longer asks how many chickens we actualy have and doesn't even bother to think about how many eggs might be in the incubator lol

She is quite the looker...we got a few SLWs to graft to a broody, they are now teenagers and are very friendly birds. Not sure how they will turn out for size but DH has one in particular that has become his little buddy.

How far up should a nesting box be? I was thinking about putting a 18 gallon dyi bin with a hole cut on the pre- existing roost
