Lol just looked them up again. They are beautiful! I think he wants the blue ones. He drives past some every day and has been watching them grow. They are looking great and I think that finally did it for him. Plus he has to build house for guineas anyway. Lol

Guineas and turkeys generally get along great. You will want to free range both of them and I think turkeys don't wander as far as the guineas tend to, so they might benefit from flocking together.

FYI... I live close to Auroradream...and travel to the Erie area weekly starting in May, and will be making at least one trip up there this month for boat moving purposes.
If she has any chicks, poults or eggs you are interested in I would be happy to help out with a delivery. DH and I are getting pretty experienced in moving birds around. LOL

The incubator chicks are having their first outside field trip today. What a beautiful day it is! Mama turkey is showing her babies how to sun bathe... The one with the injured leg is doing well. I think it will make a full recovery. Also, told hubby I had to make a trip today to tractor supply to buy some pine shavings. He said "Yeah, and you're probably going to bring home some chicks too." Freudian slip anyone? He immediately said he didn't want me to, and that I'm not allowed to, haha. I told him inly if they had any banties on sale would I do it.

I'm glad the little one is ok! I was worried that you'd lose him. It is such a beautiful day! I have some young silkies relaxing out in the little tractor I made the other day. They're very much enjoying it

Raccoon attack last night. Chickens from the main laying coop have been in the turkey coop/run while we fix/add height to the chicken run fence. Must have squeezed under a part of the fencing that wasn't tacked down well enough. I'm so mad, we lost the two green egg legbar mixes from dheltzel and my poor Romeo took a real beating. It's not the first time he's taken on a predator, but it's the first time it got him down like this. I'm worried about him. Looks like the coon got him in the eye, the left eye looks okay. Pulled some feathers on his tail but I don't see any other injuries. He really looks like he's in a lot of pain though, laying down a lot, just standing all hunched, trembling. He didn't come for food, I haven't been able to get him to drink, and he hasn't crowed at all or made any noise actually. He sometimes opens his beak like he's talking but no cluck or noises.

As upset as I am about my pretty green egg legbar mixes, I'm more worried about losing Romeo, he is one of the only remaining birds for our initial hatch that got us into chickens. What can I do for him?

I'm so sorry to hear about the attack The only above I can give for Romeo would be to give him some vitamins and isolate him somewhere quiet and semi dark so he rests. Hopefully he can pull through for you.

I found a stockpile today! My first muscovy eggs! Our hatchery silkie hen is contemplating going broody and she collected all the eggs from the nest boxes and took them to this little indent in the shavings that the ducks made I've been watching. Well, I corrected the eggs from her and there was one duck egg exposed. After a little digging, I found 5 more! You better believe they'll be going on the incubator this Friday

I also moved my little tractor in to the coop today and moved my new years hatch silkies out there (along with a little 7 week old silkie that was getting along well with them. In about a week, I'll let them loose and move the meaties outside in it. I need to make a couple more of those tractors! That thing is so light weight and versitile!

So sorry about him. I agree with Aurora, some isolation and warmth should help. Remember also that sometimes they are in shock for a while, but after a few days they pull through. I found one of my girls one morning while a fox was holding her down and biting her on the back a couple of years ago. She had some nasty puncture wounds and it was touch and go for a few days. She did make a full recovery and do lay again also. Keep us updated on Romeo.

Do you have pic of the tractor? I'd love to construct one in the spring/summer. I have so many projects! I can't wait! Hubby helped me put together and anchor a little pop up greenhouse that was a Christmas gift a year or so ago. I think it will really help with hardening off some plants.

My other turkey looks like she is trying to go broody. maybe if these turkey eggs hatch in the incubator, I will let her raise them. They are hers, after all! Her sister is doing such a good job,so I am willing to try.

I'll try to get a picture tomorrow. It's super simple and light weight though not necessarily the prettiest thing lol.

I have 3 broody turkeys right now. They're driving me crazy!
