I'm also from Northwestern PA. What chickens or other fowl do you have? :)

Moved chicks and cleaned brooders today. Took a rough census of the chicks is my basement.

Anyone in driving distance need/want some chicks?

Nope, I found 2 hens in boxes tonight, one is a newbie, so not counting on her to stick to it...but the other is a dependable work horse of a broody. So told hubby to give her eggs if she is still in the box tomorrow when he gets home from work.

Oh my!. Crazy eyeballs are right. I think I'm good in the chick department. A friend asked me how many chickens I have. I had to go through the list out loud: 14 chickens, 3 turkeys, 2 poults, 3 chicks, and an incubator with turkey eggs and chicken eggs. :p. Not doing too bad...

The incubator chicks are having their first outside field trip today. What a beautiful day it is!

Mama turkey is showing her babies how to sun bathe... The one with the injured leg is doing well. I think it will make a full recovery.

Also, told hubby I had to make a trip today to tractor supply to buy some pine shavings. He said "Yeah, and you're probably going to bring home some chicks too."

Freudian slip anyone? He immediately said he didn't want me to, and that I'm not allowed to, haha. I told him inly if they had any banties on sale would I do it. :D

I'm glad the little one is ok! I was worried that you'd lose him. It is such a beautiful day! I have some young silkies relaxing out in the little tractor I made the other day. They're very much enjoying it!

Wow! Was so excited to find all of my turkeys and poults in the coop tonight. I have been having to crawl under the coop to get the Mama and babies in every night, because of the injured one. Thank you again for the advice to make the coop high enough so that I could crawl underneath if need be. My pants have gotten dirty with all of the mud, but my animals were safe! :thumbsup

Time to play "ID that chick", LOL. I have a list of what was sent, but some are hard to tell apart. I definitely can tell the 2 Exchequer Leghorns (2 mottled chicks in the lower right) and the blue laced red wyandotte (grayish in center). Chipmunk striped ones are either Mille Fleur Leghorns or Norwegian Jaehorns, I think.
What breed is the white one?

I just moved to Bainbridge, Pa and I'm looking for rarer breeds that have colored eggs and one silkie. I'm thinking Black Copper Marans, Easter Eggers, Cream Legbars, and Favaucan. I have very limited space so I can't have a lot of chickens so I'm wanting high quality colorful eggs. Also a silkie for my nephew.
