[COLOR=333333]I just moved to Bainbridge, Pa and I'm looking for rarer breeds that have colored eggs and one silkie. I'm thinking [/COLOR][COLOR=1D2129]Black Copper Marans, Easter Eggers, Cream Legbars, and Favaucan. I have very limited space so I can't have a lot of chickens so I'm wanting high quality colorful eggs. [/COLOR]Also a silkie for my nephew. 

you shouldn't be too far from dheltzel, he has several different colored egg laying chicks. My Easter basket layers came from him (although, I'm down my green layers now :-( ).

I locked the girls in the main coop tonight rather than letting them stay in the turkey pen again and risking the coon finding another way in. They won't be happy in the morning, but they'll be alive.

I was really surprised to see Romeo on a roost when I went out to move the girls. It was a low roost, but still a good 3ft off the ground. I haven't seen him eat, drink or make any sounds yet, but at least he has enough strength and coordination (and sight) to make it up to roost. I did bring him into the garage for the night, I want to make sure he's able to eat and drink. His lack of noisemaking makes me worried that he's got a neck/throat injury that is stopping him from eating and drinking. I've tried dipping his beak in water and it just seems to annoy him... think I should try forcing some water via dropper? Going to try some egg for breakfast.

Guineas and turkeys generally get along great. You will want to free range both of them and I think turkeys don't wander as far as the guineas tend to, so they might benefit from flocking together. 

Thats actually why hubby said I can have them. Hopefully they will all stay close by. Have lots of room but a busy road in one direction so I'm worried about guineas. Might get some dark egg layers from crackle at the same time.

FYI... I live close to Auroradream...and travel to the Erie area weekly starting in May, and will be making at least one trip up there this month for boat moving purposes.
If she has any chicks, poults or eggs you are interested in I would be happy to help out with a delivery. DH and I are getting pretty experienced in moving birds around. LOL

If it happens to work out in the beginning of June I'd love to get some!

I'll try to get a picture tomorrow. It's super simple and light weight though not necessarily the prettiest thing lol.

I have 3 broody turkeys right now. They're driving me crazy!

I can't wait to see it. The rate we're going hubby will be building all summer!

The incubator chicks are having their first outside field trip today. What a beautiful day it is!

Mama turkey is showing her babies how to sun bathe... The one with the injured leg is doing well. I think it will make a full recovery.


Also, told hubby I had to make a trip today to tractor supply to buy some pine shavings. He said "Yeah, and you're probably going to bring home some chicks too."

Freudian slip anyone? He immediately said he didn't want me to, and that I'm not allowed to, haha. I told him inly if they had any banties on sale would I do it.

observing the birds on their first day outside is one of my favorite things 'baby's day out' I call it. True sun light always shows off their feather color and patterns so much better than inside light.

Hi! Would you please share a great resource to teach chick sexing? I would like to know, not wait and see. Thanks! I do not know how to vent sex. The best advice on sexing would be to post pictures on a thread for their particular breed and let the experts give you advice.

Oh my!

. Crazy eyeballs are right. I think I'm good in the chick department. A friend asked me how many chickens I have. I had to go through the list out loud: 14 chickens, 3 turkeys, 2 poults, 3 chicks, and an incubator with turkey eggs and chicken eggs.

. Not doing too bad...

Seems to me you are falling behind. Probably because you don't have enough incubators. If I see a good deal on a cabinet incubator, I'll send it to you. . .

What breed is the white one?

That is a white Minorca. Are you interested in that one?
They are straight run, unfortunately, so I was planning to raise it until it can be sexed, then sell it or let it run loose on the farm.

Had to lookup where Bainbridge was. It's a long trip unless you can combine it with heading east for other things. If you do want to come all the way to Pottstown, I can get you as many chicks as you want (unless it's more than 300 at a time).
