Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Long story short: I got 3 new chicks yesterday - 2 GLW & an Ameraucana/EE.

My 1 GLW is sick with what I'm assuming is an impacted crop?? I thought it was just respiratory because it sounds stuffy, and has been sneezing/snoring. But I picked it up and it has like an air bubble the size of a grape in its chest. No other symptoms. I read to give it ACV, which I do have. But wanted to check here for advice! TIA!

Don't let this sweet innocent face fool you. This little one got into the house today and into the brooder with the newly hatched chicks. I would not normally have chicks on the ground, but this hatch was so large I put them in a cardboard container on the floor with no top. Poor little things. There were approximately 48 chicks in there, most must have hid under the heat plate, because many were not harmed at all. I found at least a dozen scattered through out the house, not injured but soaking wet. He did kill 4 of them. As much as I think I'll get used to dealing with sick or dying animals, it does not happened. I've had a black cloud over me all day.

Oh no! I hope you discipline him quickly and make sure he knows he did a bad thing! I hope he learns his lesson and won't do it again!

Aww I'm so sorry :( Hopefully, he'll learn that this is not acceptable. I remember how horrible it was when our dogs broke in to our brooder when we first brought home or first chicks. It's heartbreaking :(

Anyone who may be near the Altoona area, the chicks at TSC are marked down. They have PR pullets for .99 right now and ask their bins are full and marked down. We didn't get any while we were there but only because I know I have at least 40 chicks coming for free from the feed mill next month lol

Same thing happened to us with our very first four chicks. Door was left unlocked, standard poodle and Persian cat were found right next to the brooder which now held 2 very wet buff orpington chicks and two dead barred rock ones--we had already named them (Lavender and Lilac). We were all crushed . Here is one of the orps today. We had to replace the barred immediately! (With chicken math)
