One more pic for the night. I go into my coop, and see and hear no chicks, but broody Mama is up on the roost. Well, I guess one warm body is as good as another if you are a chick.

How sweet! What type of turkey is she? We have one that looks like her, but she just magically appeared , so we really don't know what she is

Been crazy busy with the animals this week. 4 kids is just too many for my doe to feed, so we've added bottle feeding goat kids to our daily list of chores. It's my very favorite chore for sure. Makes me stop and settle for a minute. Wish there was more time in the day, I'd probably fill it up taking photos of baby goats.

Came home to this yesterday.... Bucks out and about. I believe I've got the fencing under control. We'll see....

Lucky!! Now that's a chore that the kids would be fighting over

Chicks everywhere this morning! Legbars and welbars, silkies and silkied lavenders lol.

The only egg to develop from my blue birchen brahma eggs that I ordered needed help hatching. The poor little thing has a terrible cross beak and didn't develope one eye :(

Funny story. My husband heard the chicks screaming, but he just kind of ignored it (I was still at work). They did eventually quiet down, but when he walked by about a half hour later, he saw our Electus parrot was in the bin with them. She couldn't get out, and the chicks were snuggled underneath her. I can't believe she didn't attack them! Talk about a close call. Here is the perp...

Gorgeous girl! I love this breed of parrot. I used to have Moluccans.

I have 3 bantam cockerels I'm looking to rehome. 1 appears to be a d'uccle. Unsure of the other two. I'm in Harrisburg but willing to drive to meet or deliver.

I ended up with 12 boys and three girls from my Bantam mix but looking at your first boy gives me hope that mine might be a girl! Good luck!

The second one is an Old English Game Bantam silver duckwing I believe.

Last night when I went to collect eggs, I had a Buff Orpington sitting on a pile of eggs, all smushed flat out and grumbling at me, i moved her, took the eggs and left. This morning she came out of the coop like normal, but now she is sitting on eggs again, how do I know if she is serious or not? I have had broody silkies that never left the nest . opinions? Thanks!

Do you want her to brood? If you want her to brood, leave eggs in the nest (porcelain eggs work well so that you're not spoiling fresh eggs). Check at night to see if she's still sitting and not on the roost. If she sits tight for a week, I'd say she's ready for eggs. If you don't want her to brood, remove eggs promptly and pull her off the nest when you see her on it, if that doesn't break her, then put her in a crate that does not have a solid bottom, screening for air flow. The idea is to keep her cooler. 3 days in the crate. If all else fails, give her eggs, she'll break after 21 days. . :D
