Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Back in Upper Michigan there was a pheasant club that gave out thousands of pheasant chicks to people to raise and let loose. Our buddy kept them in the back of an old pick-up with the cap on lol.

I'm glad Romeo is doing better. I've been fighting an eye infection in KC the last few days. Stuff I was using isn't working but the stuff you used just showed up in mail so I'm going to bring her in and hopefully get it taken care of. How long did it take for it to help him?

So one of my goats might have CL. Had to give him shots today myself for first time. I think I did it right. Had bloodwork done and hes not to bad off so hopefully we can get him better. Only have tbe two so I'm not culling him unless I absolutely have too. Fingers crossed.

He looked significantly better in just two applications. I only applied it once a day because it was so stressful for him, but it probably would have been better to do twice a day. I only had 4 days or so before we left for Easter and hubs didn't treat him at all while we were gone. There was just a little goop in his eye when we got back (didn't really look like pus, more like 'eye boogies' lol), so I did one more treatment and then let him out with his girls. I do think he is blind in that eye based on how he only looks at me with his good eye, but the infection appears to be cleared. I'm just thrilled he still has an eyeball in there... I thought it was completely gone!

One more pic for the night. I go into my coop, and see and hear no chicks, but broody Mama is up on the roost. Well, I guess one warm body is as good as another if you are a chick.

How sweet! What type of turkey is she? We have one that looks like her, but she just magically appeared , so we really don't know what she is

She is a midget white turkey. I love them. Wasn't sure about the turkeys at first, but I really do like them now.

I love it when flocks cooperate and chicks find homes everywhere! LOL
Great picture!

Thanks! I'd also like to thank you for that sample of broody contaminated water that you sent over. I have another broody, Helga, my Bielefelder. She just started last night, but she was making the typical noises. I know the signs by now... She is a fat hen, I wonder how many eggs I could get under her...

Last night when I went to collect eggs, I had a Buff Orpington sitting on a pile of eggs, all smushed flat out and grumbling at me, i moved her, took the eggs and left. This morning she came out of the coop like normal, but now she is sitting on eggs again, how do I know if she is serious or not? I have had broody silkies that never left the nest . opinions? Thanks!

If she holds for a few days, you can put some eggs under her. It is normal for them to get off the nest once a days. Some girls are like ninjas and you never catch them, but they do go out!

Well, my broody girl has been sitting for 21 days now and not a pip. Her sister has been sharing broody duties as of day ten. Three eggs were broken four days ago and were fertile. How much longer do I give them before pulling the (ebay ) eggs? Can I try other fertile eggs or are they likely to Abandon Nest at any time now?
Many thanks!

I would give it another day or two. If you can sneak out there tonight with a flashlight, you can candle the eggs and see if there are any internal pips. They would probably stay put for another set of hatching, but you just want to make sure they are still healthy and not emaciated. Keep us posted!

I put it on yesterday and last night. Had her in cage in coop and this morning I went out and it's almost cleared up!! I reapplied this morning and tonight and depending on how it looks I'll let her out tomorrow. She is such a good layer. Even laid while in pen. Link her boy (and every other boy I have) kept sneaking in chicken coop to say hi lol. They'll be mad tomorrow when I lock all the boys up to give my girls a break. I had no idea how rough they can be in spring!

This last little doe is a bit of a favorite, she is also depending on the bottle for most of her nutrition.:
