I could keep with the state theme by having a Rhode Island Red, a Iowa Blue, California Gray, Buckeye, let's see, what other state themed breeds are there?

I have no logic to this, but I preferred having colored eggs from the fiends. Not that it really matters. Are Jersey Giants named after New Jersey or the island off the coast of England? Would be fitting since I am actually in the Jersey Shore (PA) school district.

I get it. I didn’t think I’d ever want white eggs again, but after a while I missed them. Of course, during Easter they are mandatory. With my first flock, I actually had egg customers. No one wanted even the light brown eggs for Easter.
Jersey giants are NJ. I can’t remember if they were developed by two brothers or two friends.

I can give a good vote for both Jersey Giants and Buckeyes, if they are from a breeder or good hatchery at least. I have both, and they are dependable layers and our oldest are both excellent broodies.
