Hatch is going well. Out of 11 Bielefelder shipped eggs, 2 were not fertile (or did not develop), and one quit. Out of the 8 that made it into lockdown, 6 have hatched successfully, and one was zipping when I was leaving. The last one shows no obvious sign yet, but it is still early to give up.

I also had two Ayam Cemani mixes hatch, and another mystery egg with pips.

I found the first egg from my new little ducks yesterday!!
(it's going in the incubator tomorrow, or course)

Here are most of the new peeps! There were 12 that hatched, but one had a ruptured yolk sak, and was very small and weak. She did not make it through the night. Looks like I have 4 Biele boys, and 2 girls. The third one was the one that did not live. All the rest seem to be thriving however!

@dheltzel Any idea on this one? I have no idea which egg is hatched out of, but it does look like it has the Biele coloration, possibly a female. It also seems to have a little poof too, so maybe there is some CCL in there also. The coloring is just interesting to me.

Congrats on the new babies! I'm sorry the one didn't make it through the night I've only ever had one survive a ruptured yolk sack. I had to tie it off. It was a scary event.

Thanks, someone just commented on a thread I started, that it looks like it may have been infected. That may have been the case, she had a slight odor this morning when I disposed of her body.

Looks like a Biel pullet, but there are a lot of other breeds (or crosses) she could be. Even grown out, Biels are not that distinctive looking (compared to Legbars, Polish, etc).

Thanks, I'll have to wait and see how she turns out. She looks like she has a little poof on her head, so maybe my Biele roo was the daddy? Who knows, lol. It's fun to guess however.
