I agree with Bullchick... birds hide distress well, so try to observe him when he is stress free and preferably off on his own where he doesn't have to keep up appearances. If it is to his side it can be a torn muscle with swelling, a cyst, an abscessed wound, even a fractured rib pressing against the skin with associated swelling... almost anything. And yes, an animal can 'dislocate' their spine. It isn't common, and usually causes a lot of neuro symptoms but vertabrae can be 'subluxed'.... basically an incomplete dislocation... which can be realigned with chiropractic manipulation in some animals (I had this happen with a dog) but I can't imagine how it would work on a chicken.
I also agree that breeding may be out, unless it is found to be an injury, and depending on observation findings culling may be needed.

dennis, i have to thank you for the telling of dry incubation, tried it , set eggs on the 6th, set 31 so called cochin eggs,(bought eggs at the auction) had 15 cochins hatch, a few who knows what, a few polish and some maybe silkies, in total 28 eggs hatched, never had such a great hatch, soooo, thank you for the information of a dry hatch.:bow

I agree! I just tried this on my last hatch a while ago and got the best results. I think the first time I tried it was out of forgetfulness to add the humidity! :gig

i never forget cause i go into the incubator room at least once a day just to look thru the window lol, the last three days are the hardest for me, i want them to hatch, and usually i do get a early bird or two:pop
