i went down to the barn to feed the buck kid at 7am, and found him died.

I have no idea why. I could tell something was off from they way his poop and pee smelled. But just thought he was flushing stuff out of his system. His brother who stayed on mom is doing good. So I'm not sure if he did not get enough closturm and pick something up. So now I need to clean the pen out and disinfect it before bringing in 5 pregnant does to the same barn I had him.

So very sorry. He was adorable.

I need to spend the spring building a stronger fence. Fenris got at the chickens again. he found a weak spot (since been reinforced). I think the one he "got" will make it - she seems alert and aware. No obvious wound. He's such a sweet pup, just has a strong prey drive. He's really good with the cats. I think, if I hadn't broken my arm 2 days after we got him, I would have been more active about integrating him into the backyard barnyard.

Your are doing your best ..everything takes time, in some cases all the time. Try to stay patient & vigilant & it will get better. Feel free to vent here when it gets crazier for you...

Hey guys...I have a bit of a problem. We have way to many roosters and we can’t get rid of them. What do you guys do when this happens? We don’t want to process them ourselves as we simply don’t have the time, but they are becoming aggressive with each other and the hens.

You could put them up on Craigslist for free and don't ask what happens to them. When we have too many, we process them ourselves.

totally agree with Aurora.
craigslist for free, no questions asked..or you just do it yourself....if you take maybe one or two a day?...it doesn't take too long to do it.
To save time we skin ours. I cannot pull feathers anymore, fingers don't work very well & the smell just lingers too long for me.
Once you get an "area" set-up to do things, it all goes pretty fast/smooth.
This time of year is easier for doing it for us anyway...it is cold & we don't have to try & keep the meat cooled off in buckets till we are ready to wrap & freeze.
Maybe have a friend or two over to help?..just trying to be helpful. I hope you can get things figured out.

Changing up the context a bit here...hope I am not being too nosey(?sp) ..intrusive. Just like to hear what others do for their holidays, Christmas...

Christmas dinner is the one holiday meal we do not prepare, we are able to relax & spend the day just down the driveway to our daughters, although...we do make dessert(s), cheesecake & cherry pie.

Every year we do Christmas Eve "dinner buffet", made up of all types of foods, more hors d oeuvres style pickin's, multiple types of dips, cheese balls..you get the jist.

What do you all do for Christmas?

Whether big get-together or small single servings, being with family &/or our animals makes everything worth it all.
There are not any wrong ideas or traditions.

While our schedule is a gonner, we still typically; Open one gift the night before, have Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and dinner around one, break open a piñata that I typically make (and it often requires a tire iron or crowbar to open), nurse whoever has a black eye or got knocked out (not kidding), and play a hot potato type game with the person holding whatever winning their pick of prizes. In the evening we see a movie or two (the kids are older now, so it’s more likely Star Wars than Winnie the Pooh).

Puppies are 2 weeks old. Eyes are open. I think a couple may have blue eyes. They are going to the vet for their first check up.

Typically, the weekend before Christmas, we head up to DH's dad's house and do a gift exchange and dinner there. Christmas Eve, we go to church in the evening. They always have cookies and hot chocolate before the candlelight service at 6. Then, depending on how we feel, we may head over to my uncle's house. They always have a big Christmas party on Christmas Eve. Christmas day always starts early with the kids walking us up early. Hubby makes eggnog to drink while we all open presents. DH and I usually go back to bed for a couple hours. When we get up again, we make a Christmas breakfast that his mom always sends us (she lives in Florida). After all that excitement, we and everyone else on my mom's side of the family head to my parent's house for a huge Christmas dinner. Everyone brings a few things and we have a huge buffet dinner. After dinner, we have Ice cream cake and celebrate my cousin's birthday. We are always there the rest of the evening, usually getting home pretty late. Most of the guys in the family are pretty "cheery" by the end of the night lol

'Bug' opens her very early gifts with her mom & dad , then we go over...after a couple cups of coffee & a few minutes to get it together...we take gifts to their house, exchange fun, have breakfast, usually cinnamon rolls/ danish/ and the Christmas overnight-casserole.
We come back home , take a nap & wait for our dinner call..hahaha...we usually spend a good part of the evening at the kids place, hanging out, playing with the new toys..so much fun just being with family.
We will go to parents house a little later in the week & share gifts with all the family in Lancaster Co....the season that keeps giving!!
We will take Bug with us for that time too so she can hang out with cousins, aunts, uncles, nanny & pappy.
Mom & dad have to work, which is poo-poo, but we manage to deal with it and have a good time.

Oh, and by the way..those fur babies are edible!!my goodness that is not fair to show them with Christmas just a few days away..hahaha..totally cuteness overload. The one laying on it's back reminds me of my babies..they are always sleeping like..."ahhhh.,this is the life!"

You call your daughter Bug too? That's pretty funny! My daughter's nickname has been bug since she was born. Her name is Katelyn but on her very first day, my aunt called her Katie-bug. She's been bug ever since! She's going to be 12 a few days after Christmas already :/ Time really does fly.
