Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I've missed this group... can't even remember the last time I logged in here :(
We had a bad season last year with a smart raccoon. Lost more than half of our flock of chickens and 7 out of 10 turkeys. Re-building this year... with electric around the runs and the tractor (haven't quite figured out how to do that yet). May revive the cross-PA chicken train as I try to re-establish my flock this year.

I am so very sorry for the losses :( it's always so hard to lose them. If you need restocked with turkey poults, chicks or quail let me know. I'm hatching quail by request so give me a heads up if you'd like some. I've been hatching F2 sex linked Olive eggers, black copper marans and have some light brahmas in the incubator right now.

Welcome back hon! :hugs I've also had a rough past year, between losing my boys in the summer time (my mistake) and losing another rooster last month (possible owl), and then I lost one hen during that sub zero freeze earlier this month. Everyone else is okay though so I'm thankful for that.

I have no idea if we're gonna do tractors this year with meaties or not, wish we had a bit more ground to work with, that'd make things easier. I'd like to do at least maybe 5 more meaties, I know Susan wants to do a lot more. But we'd have to get some help and a plucker when butcher day comes (we'll see what we wind up doing).

So far the snow's coming down pretty well out there. I still have to go out and do my egg check. Sophie didn't lay anything yesterday so now it's just a waiting game to see if that's her whole clutch or not. Worst case scenario I have eggs hatching at separate times.

I only get to pop in once in a while. We have been sick with one thing or another. It never ends! The chickens are doing good. We have a coop outside and a fenced-off pen in the garage. The pen in the garage is for sub-zero temps. Now it is for the chicken that nearly died from a falcon attack. She is nearly 100% now and has some friends with her. So my flock is split in half between the garage and outside coop. They're on lockdown since we don't have a fenced pen. Looking forward to spring so we can get a new coop and pen built for them!
