Hello to (gah, can't remember who) whomever has the brother in Jersey Shore. We're about 5 miles out - before they 911 readdressed the county, our address was JS.

Clyde has found his crow. But, either he's shooting blanks or he hasn't taken a fancy to Jaebels. Hers is the only egg I've checked for fertility. Rory and Colleen are the only two others laying. Getting about an egg a day. The two Lavs that hatched along with Clyde have not yet started.

Fenris has a very very high prey drive. He grabbed Cate right in front of me. It is the second time he got her. So, since she survived him twice, I think maybe she won't go in the pot as I had planned. Not exactly farmer mentality but hey. I am not a farmer.

Hang in there Grandma:hugs, I know it is hard. Nugget is going to love the blanket.
Homemade is always awesome and coming from grammy is no-doubt, the best!

We ares still only getting about one egg a day,(barred rock), sometimes though one of the wyandottes spits one out..not sure who though. It is smaller, might be Ginger:idunno.
I haven't been out there much ,Dh has been taking care of the birds lately. I am just not able able to right now.:hmm..life can really bite-it sometimes.

Kavik is not a fan of the birds , but he is only 5 pounds, so if they(birds), really wanted to set him straight he would be in a world of hurt!
Will not be putting that theory to test!
If they aren't in the run, he is tied or just left in the house..no one needs to listen to that yapping.
Being outside is supposed to be enjoyable. We try to keep things all-good in our areas/yards.
Having 3 pomeraninans can be "exciting" a times though.:p They always have something to say:duc.

We had a bad season last year with a smart raccoon. Lost more than half of our flock of chickens and 7 out of 10 turkeys. Re-building this year... with electric around the runs and the tractor (haven't quite figured out how to do that yet). May revive the cross-PA chicken train as I try to re-establish my flock this year.

Life situations can take us away from a lot of enjoyable things/people. Totally understandable, you have to tend to you.:hugs So sorry for your losses.
You know the awesome peeps here will help out were they can:hugs.
Long visits or just popping-in, we are just glad to have you back anyway you can be here.

The pen in the garage is for sub-zero temps. Now it is for the chicken that nearly died from a falcon attack. She is nearly 100% now and has some friends with her. So my flock is split in half between the garage and outside coop. They're on lockdown since we don't have a fenced pen. Looking forward to spring so we can get a new coop and pen built for them!

The kids have been tossing around the 'petri dish' between each other in this area.
One class gets over it, then surprise, it's back again.:sick
We try to be proactive in the cold/flu seasons. We have "drops" to put into orange juice and herbs for immunity boosting tea/tinctures & such.
Some of this going around is pretty nasty, staying with people for a very long time.
Hoping spring is going to behave itself this year, but not holding my breath.
This weather is beyond frustrating. :barnieGoing to start seeds in about a week or two. Mostly squashes, cantaloupes, watermelons..that sort of stuff. Didn't get ripe watermelons until the end of October. Guess I shouldn't complain too much, we had them until almost Thanksgiving...still, that is NOT normal. We didn't get any cantaloupes.:( & the squashes were just holding on for dear life throughout the entire summer. Too much rain..only got a couple zucchini & one yellow that wasn't even eatible.
We have to get the run-roof & fencing/caging finished soon. Has been two seasons now of looking out the window and seeing 2x4s sticking out of the ground. :hmm The chickens stay in the small area under roof, they hate snow. Will be nice for them to have that sprawl-space. So many projects, so little time!:lol:

How do you handle all of that goat stuff?
Our neighbors up the hill have them, she had a lot more than just goats too, horses, rabbits etc, you get the picture.. but she needed a break from it all & down sized greatly.
The goats are 24/7 when it's baby season...this I have seen!:th
