I have *lots* of Australian Spotted duck eggs, but it is already past time to get ducklings at the end of March, they incubate for 27 days. These produce ducklings that are the cutest ever and they are very practical pet ducks, small and lay pretty well. I like the bantam ducks because you can put more into the same area compared to the larger ducks.

I'm looking for duck eggs to put in at the end of March. That is when my incubator will be free for more eggs to go in. I have chicken eggs in now.

Holy cow, I'm gone for a little bit and I miss so much! Congrats on all the babies! :love

Ohhh! Thank you for the photos!! I often wonder if the coop I buy will be big enough for 6 hens... Advertising vs. Reality. I'd hate for them to be cramped inside or have trouble walking up the ramp...

I hate those "chicken coops" that TSC or other stores sell. Always way too small in my opinion. Your best option is to buy a shed and customize it for your chickens. We built a 4x8 shed for our 15 chickens. Going to buy a larger shed this year.

I have a question for ye Chicken Gods and Goddesses who are more experienced than I.
Can I wash a fluffy and very filthy orpington bottom in weather like this or would the change in temperature from outside to inside and back again, be too much of a shock?
(Again, I learned change in temperature could be deady to canaries. with their hollow bones.)

I have one orpington that is SUPER fluffy. Her name is Fluffy  Anyhow, we gave up on the baths for her and ended up just cutting her fluffy butt feathers so the poop doesn't stick anymore. It's easier that way!

trimming the back-ends is so much easier! AGREED!!
I do it for the dogs..almost have to being poms:rolleyes:..it grows back so fast, there is no such thing as "too short"..

Do any of us want to go out today? Or tomorrow?

That wind is mean. Hurts your face & makes your nose sting. Mornings are not fun in these temps with wind. It is still windy & less than desirable out there.:(

The full bale of straw is in a 6x4’ area. I was happy to see the chicks were climbing Straw Mountain this morning. They have a three-ish inch deep area to move around, so they aren’t drowning.
They were fine last night, the coldest expected night, so I no longer have to listen for their cries at night. :yesss:

I don’t miss trimming Pom bottoms!
Were you around when I had to put a mc helmet on Duckling to go tend the flock? The hail/sleet wasn’t toddler friendly.

..that will teach ya & quick! You need to get a butterfly net:wee
:lau...okay, serious now...is it okay & are you recovered from this newly found knowledge?
 Yeah, all is well. I do have a net in the house, and another outside. Duckling likes to practice catching birds. Butterflies too when she sees them.

so cute!!:love..she is hard core about it for sure!! You go girl!:highfive:

we do too!:love..hahaha, but not with nets..hahaha..
Just cut up some oranges, set on a flat plate when the butterflies are around of course..they will get the hint and land.
Have some milkweed getting winterized in a jug outside. Can't wait to see it sprouting. Hope I did it right:fl..Trying to put more butterfly plants around.
We do get quite a few throughout the seasons, we like to hunt for the eggs & caterpillars and raise them to emerge..so awesome to watch.
Early-mid summer there is always a huge yellow swallow tail population around the area.
There is nothing more beautiful then being back along the creek fishing surrounded by swallow tails, Inspiring experience.
Happy hunting!!!:clap
