Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Thanks for the welcome back.
We left our family and grandkids back in Lancaster county so we get a little lonely here sometimes, if any of you need a vacation we are always up to some company. We are just 2 miles out from a boat dock along the juniata river.
Side note.... reading back I see mention of quail, what kind do you all raise?
Are any of you near me ? Mcveytown, mifflin county area.
I go to a small animal auction in belleville every other week, and about once a month to an flea market/ animal auction in middleburg. If you are in these areas would really like to meet some new people around me.

WING!!!! *HUGS* Hope all is well. You are just a bit south of my inlaws - because there's no direct route, it's about an hours drive from them. They're in Pennsylvania Furnace. You're only about an hour and a half from me, even though I am much further north.

Hello.. Hello...Hello
We are finally settled into our new life after a long 2 years, still much work to be done, but things are coming along, we have managed to clear and trim enough to make a layer pen, a meat bird pen and 2 goat pens. We have a few pot belly pigs living with the layers till we get them an area....
Just have a mixed pen of layers that came from different local auctions, we got so tired of eating store bought eggs, in the process of starting our own flock and I chose Brahma, I have 48 light Brahma eggs set and hoping for the best outcome..
has been an adjustment moving from crowded Lancaster county to a mountain area of mifflin county, we are now only 25 miles south of Penn state.
:ya Hey there Lady!!!
You are sooo much closer to a whole lot of us now! :yesss:
Sounds like you have been super busy, welcome to the jungle-mountains.
So glad to hear you are doing well. Maybe one of these crazy days we can all get together & visit again, that would be awesome!:D
Maybe even pawn some chicks....eggs or whatever onto each other:smack

Welcome back! Long time no see! You are very close to me now I think. An hour or two? I have a giant pile of coturnix quail eggs sitting here, assorted colors, just in case you want me to hatch some for you. I need an excuse for them to fall in the bator lol

cut back to 6+ inches, even the second year canes. Will have a nice fall crop. Not too worried about the spring crop. Cut back to help decrease pest & mildew issues. Will also spray, using a 'organic'- allowable spray.
Will also thin out the thicker bunches, removing weaker canes.

put all the trimmings in garden to be burnt. Still have quite a bit of snow laying around, even with these temps.

even the girls were adventurous enough to walk beyond the melted areas in the run.
The Maran is Chickadee. Barred rock is Louise.
Can't wait to get to get some more mulch in that run!! Mud mess right now:sick.

was making/baking a bunch of goodies & dog treats yesterday, they were helping the whole time:drool;)

We started with a purchased coop and run that was supposed to hold 6 birds. I still think it was too small for 2. I had to enclose the whole thing for it to be big enough for 2. I have since built my own coop and run. Be careful if you buy one and watch the actual square footage, roost size, height and location. We can all help. We have lots of opinions and will gladly offer them and as well as free advice. If you find something you, I would post it here and let us help evaluate it for you so understand what you are getting before you buy.

Ohhhh. You all would help evaluate a potential coop for me!? Wow. That's amazing. I'm the luckiest girl to have found such a supportive group of like-minded folk. Thank you! :D ❤️
