Ohhhh. You all would help evaluate a potential coop for me!? Wow. That's amazing. I'm the luckiest girl to have found such a supportive group of like-minded folk. Thank you! :D ❤️
We will do our best! :highfive:

I like her post-page, thingy...she does "Garden Up Green". She & her Dh are working on making a Tiny Home & planning on selling their acreage in 1 acre parcels for a Tiny Home community.
That is a very cool idea for keeping garden bugs at bay. You would have to really plan out where your plants are going, keeping the lower growing together.
I would be able to do this is the separate beds, they are more like a raised bed, but not the large garden, the rows of veggies are too close.
**This is what we are thinking of doing for quail, maybe not as tall, but tall enough for both of us to walk through..only needs to be 5'5" at most. Hahahaha

This is for the strawberries. It also has a brick circle walkway. We got tired of stepping on plants & fruit. It gets hard to keep your balance as you get older...that's what I hear anyway:old...:smack
We would put lots of ground cover and such to really make it as natural as possible for them.
Still not sure if we would keep them through winter. Have to think on that a little more, but not against hatching new every year...ie: see broody cordon-chicken or purchasing youngsters. They lay eggs so much sooner than the big girls a real plus.

Absolutely! We after the best enablers around! We will talk you in to why you need a bigger coop and teach you all about chicken math lol

That's actually really neat! I like that idea!

I have had a sign out saying I want egg cartons sence I put out my egg for sale sign. I have 3-4 big boxes of egg catrons in my garage. I did not think I would get so many. Anf I keep getting more. I'm fine with it. Just to much right now. Sometimes I will burn the cardboard ones. Does anyone near me need any?

I feel pretty safe saying that anyone here would help you with anything you might need advise on. That's one of the reasons we are here, to support others.

I have about fifty from when I had my huge flock. A few mice were in there, so I think I might toss them.

Am I being too much of a germaphobe? Technically mice touch a lot in the coop too. I don’t always wash eggs.

If there is mouse poop or obvious dirt on the cardboard ones, I'd definitely toss those. Styrofoam and plastic ones are easier to wash.

I would toss them. Mice carry all kinds of germs. How do you think anyone getting eggs from you would feel if they knew you were giving them egg cartons that mice had been running all over?

:sick...
I have so many cartons.
I keep the good ones in large-clean/new/unused trash bags tied up.
Can't stand mice, almost as bad as spiders...everything has it's place in life, understood, but not in front of me..thank you very much.
Had a less than desirable experience with mice once in my life, that was it for me as far as those creatures go. :caf
Yes...mice are evil.
