Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Whew, I’m aching! The main coop is cleaned out, and the chicks have the run of the place. Of course, they were terrified, and huddled in the back.

I still need to wipe some things down, but I barely got this done before Duckling came back.
Here are the five chicks that made it through the first few weeks. I thought I had; (sold as names, but we know it’s unlikely accurate) BR, RIR, Ameraucana, Rainbow Layer and two Welsummer. One accidentally being a cockerel. Since there are only five chicks...
So, what do I have? The BR, and RIR are there. The beautiful thing in the back is a Welsummer, isn’t it?

good job!!
Was just talking to DH about cleaning the coop...I would like to repaint it, the inside.
The bottom of the coop is brick, I was wanting to paint the inside of the brick white, just like the wood walls. Would make getting poopy off of it maybe a little easier.
Won't be hard to do, not an overly-large area, I could refresh the walls too while I'm there.
The he said we would be able to see the poop more...well, yes we would... That is kind of the point:he. He said "oh...I don't want to see the poop.":lau
>sigh<...he doesn't want to SEE the poop...okay, so NOW I have to think about this.
Okay..done..it is getting paint WHITE!:smack:clap

some herbs, most aren't too picky. ..mints, oregano, thyme,
regular veggies- peas/beans, they don't mind the shade so much., swiss chard
perennials- purple cone flower (they can handle a lot of different situations), lavender, some are okay with shade, clover, alfalfa
just a few off the top...

well fine then, don't stop in or anything..and don't tell me you were in a rush either:plbb
Didn't notice a creepy or crappy looking patriot..:lau..should have stopped in , geesh:rant
Could have pawned off some oranges to you. Had a neighbor drop off an entire case of them. I do have plans for a lot of them, but good gawd...that is a lot of oranges.:th
Sorry to hear about your girly-bird.
Freeze the oranges. Whole to juice later, or sliced for adding to water or punch.

If you don’t see poop, you don’t know it needs cleaned.

I put Duckling down early since she’s exhausted. Now I’m pondering when to let the adults in with the chicks. No adult has ever been mean, but these chicks are just so ... “special.” As in they are idiots. I can’t be sure they will bond with the adults enough to return to the coop tomorrow.
:caf I cannot make the adults miss a nice day tomorrow since the temperatures are dropping again in a few days.
I guess I need to keep pondering.

Okay! The door between the two sides is open. No one is coming out until... noon. I will go in around eight-thirty, and see how it’s going. Then I will let them all out later. Maybe one is better. Duckling will be napping.
Of course, this way I can be more sure of how many ducks are laying. I didn’t get a chicken egg until after the second check at 10-ish. Unfortunately, I broke it while cleaning.
Does anyone care? No. Am I telling you since I have no one else to tell? Yes!

And I only have 1 rooster.

Buenos dias amigos! My day has been busy already. I had to feed everyone before the sun came up. The geese made sure to announce it to the neighborhood so I'm sure everyone was up at the crack of dawn. I dropped one kid off on the bus and dragged the other to Altoona to get cavities filled. At least I managed to get a chocolate chip frappe while we were down there. Second kid is at school now where he belongs and now I'm tired AND caffeinated. I have to meet someone in Altoona tonight with turkey poults so I'll be back down there again. Busy day. At least DS piano lesson and worship team practice has been cancelled tonight. Less we have to run to lol.
