Adorable! Looks like Ruby is well named, she is a gem!
She is indeed! She was a re home from my next door neighbor. This is her second time brooding chicks.

wow...you really got the luck bug on this one!!Hey guys, check out my new chick set up. All for free! My friend had this little coop setup that he got used from someone else. It needed a power washing and a good coat of paint, and now looks lovely. The dog kennel was from a neighbor who put it up for free on our local NextDoor website. He also gave me an old plastic outdoor dog house that will be great for a broody. It also just needs a good scrub.

How sad! It’s bad enough for some birds to be picked off by a predator, but this is much worse. So sorry that happened. People can be jerks.
Isn’t it crazy? Nearby in Philly, last year they seized I believe 1000 meat bird chicks that someone was raising on a lot. I tried to adopt some, but I can’t lie and I told them that they have to be euthanized at some point. They said I couldn’t take them then, and they had found a vegan rescue or saomething that was going to try to raise them differently... Yeah, I wonder how that turned out.
Hello there! How are you? Long time no see. I don’t know if you remember me, but I purchased your meat birds a few years ago. I’m raising my own now.Hope you’re doing well. Pretty sure @dheltzel has small Australian spotted ducks.
Did DH put you up to this to test me???Hey guys, the hobby breeder where we got Fenris last year is having issues with their township and has to rehome puppies asap. Anyone want a purebred Siberian Husky for cheap?

very cool!Hey guys, I just got this camera for my chicken coop. Unfortunately, my WiFi doesn’t extend that far, so for now I have hooked up down in the basement to watch the ducks. You can’t see most of them here because of the heat lamp.
If any of you guys get a WiFi signal out near your coop, this would be awesome. It’s only $20, and you view the video on an app on your phone. It has all kinds of features I haven’t figured out yet... it’s called a Wyze camera. I wish I’d had it when I had my coop closer to my house.

I've spent $15 for wyandottes not yet laying. Don't think $20 is asking too much if they are already laying. If I liked the "breed" or "breeding", I'd spend more. JMOOk.... so how much is the going rate for hens from 10-14 months.... Laying, some already brooded? Many are 7+ lbs due to white rock blood?
Someone just said he would buy them for $5??? Sorry, but at that $ I will let them egg for the summer and butcher them myself in the fall.... I know they aren't worth a fortune but for cripes sake food isn't free and these birds are young and actively egging, not worn out hens!
I told him no thanks, I will keep the eggs and meat for ourselves at that price!
Sorry, rant over...![]()
they know who mamma is & they love the preening too.Every morning in the ameraucana/turkey grow out pen.... There is nothing wrong with the black am hen, she just closes her eyes in bliss every morning with her cuddles. She only started snuggling a couple weeks ago, just out of nowhere! The 3 black silkie feathered am young ones are all her babies (she did not raise them) are all just as loveable and snuggly as she is but it didn't start until they moved in to that pen. Not one of the lavender ams will do this, only the blacks lol.

This rotten little palm sneaks up behind me all the time and when I'm not paying attention, she does this... Always after stepping in mud of course

She's learning the acceptable way to get attention though
