You won’t get any of it!! We are wayyy up in the sticks! Kane! No one has ever heard of it...brookville? That’s south of us...marienville..2 hrs west. We get it much worse than those guys do..we’re in a snow belt and at the highest point from this side of the Mississippi....

I believe turkeys need a bit higher protein than average chickens, dont they? I know chick starter is good, but dont they go to a meat bird/game bird feed after that? Are they ok with regular feed if they can free range for bugs or do they still need the higher protein feed?

Oh yeah, that too. It's recommended to feed them a 28% gamebird starter at first. Tractor supply carries a 24% I believe. It'll work.

I should not have stoped in at tractor supply today. I came home with 6 new babies.View attachment 2040954

I had Duckling go over alone since she had “gimme now!” syndrome, and I would have agreed. She described Khakis, but didn’t tell me about any other birds, and I forgot to remind her that she can read. We were a little tempted by the ducklings.

Personally, it’s worth finding another feed store with gamebird feed for the poults. It allows them to grow at a more natural pace. Lower protein isn’t harmful though. I didn’t use tutors, but I know people like the security.

TSC has turkeys?! I've only ever seen chicks or ducks. The typical kinds - RIR, Barred Rock, etc.

Yup, I saw them too. The ones at my TSC didn’t look very healthy, I think @HeartoftheMatterFarm lucked out. Sadly, I have no room for turkeys.

So far all 6 are still alove. They are eating and drinking good. I have not gone back yet to TSC to get more chicks. I have to go there today get cat food for my barn cats.

Now I'm going to have to swing by my TSC and see if they have any. I'm determined to raise a huge BB bird, just once!
