Would anyone happen to know townships that allow chickens near Altoona?
I’ve checked codes but many of them don’t say anything.

Blair, Clearfield… I forget the ones past Altoona, but I have certainly seen enough chickens in Johnstown, Duncansville…

I'm pretty sure on the Altoona area you're allowed 6 hens, no roos. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure.

I've seen hens in downtown Johnstown, back in the day. Most townships in this area don't mention chickens because it's farm country. They also don't have laws regarding the growing of tomatoes.

Now in Altoona proper, yeah, probably 6 hens seems about right. Inside Logan Twp you might not be permitted any. Just avoid living *in* the city.

As an example, Johnstown more or less circles Wertz mountain. It won't be recognizable as a mountain if you're from the western states.

Johnstown is fairly urban. Wertz has a very high population of chickens. And some goats.

As TillyPeeps says, Pennsylvania government is run first by the Commonwealth (state), then the Counties (there are 67), and then the municipalities/boroughs. I think only Philly (class 1) and Pittsburgh (class 2) are the only entities carved out as cities?
But it is different, apparently, then a lot of other areas of the US, because people who move from other states always are confused when we ask what municipality they live in when signing up for a library card.
