Don't worry, peoples. There are plausible, scientific explanations for any mysterious thing you see. :old Cobblestone you never placed? Probably a dungeon. A creepy guy named Herobr1ne chasing you on a public server? Probably a player who likes to troll people. Try being calm and Mythbuster-y before you stat panicking.

That said, the Herobrine myths have occasionally made me twitchy too.

Herobrine doesn't exist. There's a long explaination on the company's website. I can't remember the whole thing (and am too lazy to search for it) but I think it started as a joke tweet from one of the developers that took on a life of it's own. There is no plan to add it into the regular game but people have created mods for it.

I play survival on a private server with family and friends, no time for griefers on the PvP servers. I currently have four or five houses in various villages. The guy that runs the server and I like to wall off and "grow" villages until we have a couple of golums there then move on. My current project is growing "twin" villages (villages within sight of each other) into one big city. I've found two sets of villages like this in the last couple of months, dubbed "Minneapolis/St Paul" and "London East/West End" repectively. At this time we have about 20 villages and a stronghold all connected by train lines through the nether. Not bad for survival.

My 8 year old son likes to play creative, mostly for the unlimited TNT.

Wow. I wish you could play on servers like that on Pocket Edition, but sadly, the person has to be on your wifi for PE. It stinks. And you can't light TNT on creative in Pocket Edition yet... made me really upset when I made something awesome and couldn't light it. LOL

Thanks :) I'm gonna go find the explanation for my friend. c:

All you ever wanted to know about herobrine....

http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Herobrine

Key paragraph:

Is Herobrine in Minecraft?

Herobrine is not in Minecraft.
There are no references to him at all in the source code, and there is no code to allow for any entity to act like Herobrine. There is no level terrain code to generate redstone torches, 2x2 tunnels or elaborate dungeons with traps.
There is no possible way Herobrine can ever exist in any unmodded clients or servers. Any claims that he is in Minecraft are completely false. Any appearances he may have are caused by mods being installed.
The Minecraft Wiki and Forums do not partake in any viral Herobrine hoax. Any deletion of herobrine-related comments or stories are purely because Herobrine doesn't exist, and the stories are either fictional, with an intent to mislead others, or the result of users playing mods installed on their game without their knowledge.

What do y'all prefer? Creative or Survival? I prefer creative... I like building houses. I have tons of 'em.
I usually go for the middle ground---peaceful survival or normal survival with cheats. I enjoy having consequences to walking off cliffs or into lava, but I sure don't want zombies breaking down doors.
