So, my friend is getting Minecraft PC today. I need a multiplayer Q+A session.
Do you have to own a server to be able to go on someone else's server?
Can you do multiplayer without servers?
How does this work?!?!

I mentioned an abandoned mine shaft earlier. I've been exploring it, and it sucks. Maybe I need to go deeper for the diamonds. I do have a mine shaft under my house in creative, and there is a large vein of 4 diamonds right when you fall in. I haven't explored all of it, but I think I have it made if I go to survival.

3) This is called LAN, it's when someone connects to the same wifi and one person opens up their singleplayer world. Press ESC and press 'Open To LAN'. And then the other person goes to multiplayer. Then, the person on multiplayer watches the 'Searching for LAN' bar and if the singleplayer person has their LAN world up, the other person will be able to connect to the singleplayer world.

LAN is awesome for playing with real life friends who can visit your house easily, but is useless for playing with people who live far away. For that, you WILL need to set up a proper multiplayer server, or find a good server you can both play on.

Uhh, that depends on whether you're willing to visit each others' houses to play Minecraft or not.

You have to be on the same wifi connection to play LAN.

I don't suppose any of you have Skype and want to go on some server and play Minecraft with me sometime? Because I have a Skype account, a headset, and a lack of friends.
...Might be fun, if I don't get too shy and forget how to talk or something.

I have no Skype, but maybe I will try to find a good server if my parents are ok with it.
