I have purchased a small coop for 3 chickens and have made a perch to sit inside. The perch is currently 1 foot off the ground but I'm concerned that without any room to flap their wings they won't be able to step up onto it. So long story short, what height can a chicken step up to without flapping their wings?

All depends on the size of chicken. I would lower perch to 6 inches and see how it works out. In a small coop, you want the chickens away from the possible drafts near the ceiling at this time of the year. I am only assuming you may have winter time where you are at.

How high is your coop inside? The big issue with these pre-fabs is that they are not tall enough, nor do they have enough space inside to allow the chickens to perch well without brushing the back wall with their feathers (leading to tattered tail feathers), or having their heads too close to the ceiling (which leads to frost bite). Also, crowding on the perch, not having alternate perch options leads to issues with aggression. Coop dimensions would be helpful.
