Perch ideas

Had some 2x2 laying around the house and I decided to make some perches for my coop. I'm​ thinking of doing a few ladder perches. Wanted to get you fine folks opinion on it and maybe some other design ideas.

1x1 isn't very strong any I wouldn't use it for anything other than for chicks or very small bantams.

What breeds do you have and how wide are you planning to make your roosts? I usually use 2x3 for my bantams and 2x4 for my large fowl.

I have orpingtons. Was thinking about 3 feet wide was my plan.

With ladder style roosts, you need to pay special attention to just how far apart the roosts are so that each rung is far enough apart that the birds on the lower rungs are not getting pooed on by the birds above. 2x4s, wide side up, work best for large breeds.

How many birds? 3' wide means there will be about 2 birds on each rung in summer, which will likely make for a lot of squabbling at bedtime.

I have taken that in consideration. Don't want my girls to get a poop bath. Lol

I have 4 birds. 3 hens 1 rooster. Plan on getting more eventually which is why I'm want to make a few different ones.
