Perch

At what point should I put a perch in my brooder? My chicks are about 10 days old now. Thanks.

I put a low perch in my brooder at 2wks. It didn't take them long to figure it out!

I started putting one about now....just a litle one about an inch of the bottom. You can even go outside and get a sturdy stick to use. They love it and look soo cute.

We start with a tree branch laying on the floor of the brooder when the chicks are about 1 week old. This way they get used to seeing it. Then we start raising it an inch or two at a time. So at week 2 it is about 1.5 inches off the floor. In the brooder area we use, we can only raise it one to one and a half foot high.
