Permethrin

Hello everyone! I want to treat my birds with permethrin. My question is once diluted how do you suggest to use it? I know with ivermection couple drops under wings and necks but with the permethrin spray I wasn't sure! Also I know it is toxic to cats is that only after you spray it and once it's dry it's ok?

I used it once but the stress of it killing my cats was too much so I switched to neem oil.
I dip mine every 3-4 days to get rid of mites or lice and spray the whole coop & nest boxes with it. If you don't remove the eggs off the chickens you can't get rid of either one.Good luck!

When I had to dose my birds a couple years ago I sprayed underneath both wings, around the vent (kinda part the feathers so you're spraying the skin), and top of the back by the neck. I'd suggest wearing a long sleeve shirt, rubber or other disposable gloves, and I wore glasses or goggles (so you don't get it in your eyes.)
With the cats, you just don't want them around when you're actively spraying. If you have outside cats maybe try to keep them away from the area where you sprayed for an hour or two. I made sure to wash my clothes right after I got done and I took a shower, also.

I do have my neighbors cat who comes in my yard and just hangs out with birds. With ivermectin I've heard conflicting egg withdrawal times. Where do you get the need pil and do you dilute it? Also do you have to pick the eggs off the feathers or can I reapply every 5 to 7 days?

Was recommended mix in a sprayer, at night when they roosting to misting/spray them (under) and the coop; getting all the cracks & crevices, nest box, shavings. Repeat in 7 days. Have read to remove all bedding/shavings to be burned. Spray the coop and birds, respraying in 7 days as mite eggs hatch.

I've done it but now do a monthly maintenance of dusting my girls & the coop with Garden & Poultry Dust (premethrin). I also dust the surrounding area with it as well as DE. During the winter months, I do a half/half mix of Poultry Dust/DE to dust them. I've also used Sevin 5% which isn't recommended for poultry but we did it years ago ... Again winter months I mix with DE and rotate the powders.

I have sand in the main coop and get rid of the shavings in the nesting box every week the sand has de and revenge dust on in it plus their dust bathing spots around the yard has the dust on it. I'll will try the spray this weekend and add that as well. Thank you!
