My brother was here today and brought this fruit to ask what it was, his MIL has the bush growing in her yard and has always kept it trimmed, this year it beared fruit. I believe it to be Persimmon, thought I would ask for opinions. They are the size of large plums.

sorry, it doesn't look like any persimmon we have on our trees. Trees not bushes. Unless it is something I don't know about ?

It isn't like any persimmon I've ever seen. It doesn't look like anything native to North America. Can you get a picture of the bush, especially the leaves?

It looks like some sort of weird apple.

This is what a persimmon looks like. The ones that grow here in Arkansas are a lot smaller and more pink. I guess there is more than one kind. I don't know what fruit you have, but it looks like an apple of some kind.

The skin is very thin and the flesh is soft, kind of like a plum.

It is not a persimmon. Persimmons have a distinct orange color and a very unusual leaf and stem attached.

Maybe a Quince?
