This is an observation, not a problem to be solved.
I have nearly 100 Persimmon trees just starting to bare fruit. Fruit will be available for the next 30 to 45 days. Most of my birds are currently confined to pens to I collect the fruit and apply about 6 per bird in a cage each day. The feed mix I use is then being reduced in terms of the shell corn amount as I assume the fruit are providing a lot of carbohydrates.
The free-range chickens are getting the fallen fruit on their own and seem to cherry pick what they find. Once the fruit start fermenting drunk chickens will be stumbling about once in a while.
