Pest in nest

We have just cleaned out the roost for our two girls. We thought we had three girls but the one we named Garcie crowed two days ago. So now we have two girls and Sir Gracie.
We saw two small scorpions and many little black bugs. I know since we live in Florida that there will be many bugs. But can we still control all of these with DE?
I know they like bugs but there are way too many for them to keep up with.
Is there anything else to use?

You can make a dent in the but population with DE. Eventually the area around the coop will have less bugs, even without trying to control them. But your in Florida and may never notice.

The chickens will eat a fair share of the bugs.
