We did when I was a kid, we had three brothers. They always seemed a little more interested in each other than they did in us but they were cute as heck. They could jump straight up in the air two feet high when they were playing, it was impressive!

Oh wow! They always look so cute in the pictures.

Have you checked if there are any rat breeders near you? Pet shop rats aren't nearly as healthy and they usually come from commercially developed lines for research labs. In contrast, private breeders aim for health, longevity, and friendliness.

No I have not, I just look on FaceBook but this sounds way more official! Thank you so much for the info.

I'm allergic to all rodent types now. I even tried allergy shots and they made me less reactive but not enough to keep them as pets.

I have asthma that reacts to just about everything. I'm very grateful I'm not allergic to dogs, equines, and chickens!

Wow, that's so crazy. I have food allergies but always been thankful I'm not allergic to animals. Thank goodness you are only allergic to rodents and not chickens!!

I love mini cows, too! I'd like two of them, pretty brown Jerseys with big, soulful eyes. And about two dozen more chickens (including roosters), and a pair of mammoth donkeys for riding/driving/protection.

While we're at it, I'd also like about 5 acres of high & dry land with grazing fields, mature fruit and nut trees, a well, and a nice big vegetable garden. And a husband who looks like Hugh Jackman.

Rats are wonderful pets! Super smart and people oriented, basically dog personalities in tiny bodies. They know their names, come when you call, laugh when you tickle their bellies, learn tricks and play all kinds of games like diving for peas - they're excellent swimmers.

I had pet rats since I was a kid all the way into my twenties then I developed a severe allergy and couldn't keep them anymore. I miss them!

Ugh I'm so jealous! I want a pair of rats!
