Pets or livestock.

Are your birds pets or Live stock?
I'm in the eqarly stages of getting back to poultry. Parents had chickens when I was a kid. That was long ago.

Hello...two part answer here....if I raise it from a little day old chick, then it's a pet.....if I buy an adult, it's livestock. I just don't bond with adults that I've purchased, so I often sell them quickly. I don't have alot of chickens....I've got 18. One is livestock.....the rest are pets......

They're all hens....except for this last batch of five I just hatched....not sure what they are.

I hope you enjoy the chickens....I hated them as a kid--my grandma had a neighbor with really mean biddies.....(hens) and one attacked me. But then a friend had some chicks, and I live in the country and I really enjoy them so much.....

I guess if I was smart, I'd have fun with them AND make profit......I do sell eggs.....

Livestock to me. Some will obviously have special places in our lives, but all in all they are here for a purpose right???

They are both to me. They are all "livestock" but ive bonded to some like pets. They are all in my mind livestock, because that is what they were bred to do, but like any animal ive bonded to some. Its just like if you bonded to a cow. You would consider that cow livestock, but at the same time you would think of it as a pet
