Phantom Egg? Looks/sounds like she laid one, but NO EGG!

Poor little Flare and one of my big ol' buff orps were killed yesterday when a bold coyote came into the yard in the middle of the day. He didn't get out of the yard with them and we were left to put them out of their misery, forced to butcher our babies. I think our rooster helped defend the rest. Poor guy, he was really shaken. Anyway, wanted to let you know. We are just devistated.
