But of backstory, one of our ducks had a prolapse 3 years ago with her first egg, we treated her and no issues since.

Yesterday she had a prolapse again, not with her egg, but afterwards with what looked like a full oyster shell grit poop, think she ate too much grit and it formed a grit ball. Before I could get her inside the prolapse went in by itself after she pooped out the grit. She was fine and didn't act any different.

Now to today, our ducks make 'contraction quacks', then go into a nest either in their enclosure or out in the garden with us. She did all this, went into a nest, stayed their for about an hour, she comes out and no egg.

Isn't acting like an egg bound duck, eating and foraging, chasing her sister for worms etc.

Are phantom eggs a thing?

Thanks all!!!

It may just feel like an egg is coming due to how the prolapse probably feels. Watch so she doesn't prolapse again as generally they end up repeatedly pushing it out as it feels strange because of the swollen damaged tissue.

I'll be keeping an eye on her over the next few days, especially tomorrow when she'll likely be laying for real. Any issues we'll try and treat ourselves, and do a vet visit for an implant.

I only thought a phantom egg as she had the contraction quacks they have, and I saw a old thread on here about it happening for chickens.
