Please help me if you can...I have 11 golden pheasant chicks ranging in age from 2 weeks up to 8 weeks old. The 8 week old hatched out by himself in an incubator and has been in the outdoor nursery pen/run for a couple of weeks now and he is thriving. But, I have 3 that are 3 weeks old now that have developed leg problems. They want to mostly sit, and when they are sitting their legs look like the pics you see of chicks with sraddle leg/splayed leg. When you pick them up, their legs start twitching like they have nerve problems. They do eat and drink. I am worried what this is and if it will spread to the other healthy pheasant chicks as they are all brooded together. I feed them the medicated gamebird chick starter feed and I have been putting the electrolyte/vitiamin mix in their drinking water this week when I noticed that these 3 were showing signs of problems. I clean out their brooder and put in fresh bedding (pine shavings) every day. I clean out their feed and water receptacles every day and make sure that their feed and water is absolutely clean. What am I missing?

I don't want the little things to die but I am at a loss as to what I can do to make it better...My youngest little chick at 2 weeks hatched out with a bum foot and although I have treated him with the usual methods for spraddle leg, splayed foot, etc he is not much better. But these other 3 did not hatch out that way, it has just developed. What do you think??

Pine Shavings? Some Folks Say Pine And Cedar Shavings Are Toxic To The Babies. Maybe Just Quail, But I Cant See It Killing Quail And Not Affecting Baby Pheasants. Its An Inhaled Toxin Given Off By The Wood Itself. That Would Be My 1st Place To Start. You're Already Giving Vit/min Water So Thats Covered.... Gamebird Starter Correct? Not Chick Starter. Fire Off A Pm To 1 Of These Guys, They All Have Good Foundations With Goldens... P/shall, Lophura, Spectrumranch. Hopefully 1 Of Them Can Get Back To You Quickly With Good Accurate Info! Good Luck Hope Ya Get It Worked Out!
