Chick Leg Problems

My friend has a chick who can't walk like the others. It looks as if both of her legs are being sprung into place at her knees. Whenever they are stretched out, they immediately go back to a sitting position. I am convinced it is not splayed leg because I have seen that before, so any tips or thoughts as to what is happening to his bird?

I saw mention of the sitting-on-haunches thing earlier today while trying to help my chick. Look up "kinky-back" on Poultry DVM. It's kind of a shot in the dark, but maybe related?

Are the joints swollen?
