Pheasant chicks?

I am kind of interested in raising some pheasants and then releasing them on our property in the mountains just for fun. Not for hunting. There's someone here close who is selling the hen chicks for a good price. Does anyone have experience raising pheasants? Do I do it like chicken chicks? And what about releasing them when the time comes? Any ideas?

releasing has lots of legal implications, if done incorrectly you could infect the wild population and wipe them out. the chicks are pretty much the same, just a little wilder and they need more space. releasing them for fun is usually not a good enough reason to validate the state issueing you a release liscence.
