unless you have other gamebirds, you probably want to get this one a couple of friends. a single can do okay in a mixed flock (with some risk it it happens to be a male hitting sexual maturity)Hi, I started off with 3 baby pheasants. Then last week one got eaten by a predator, then today one got squashed in the garage doorI'm wondering how my single one will cope being all by him/herself?
they can be very friendly especially as chicks. just be careful that as he/she gets older (around 3-5 months and beyond) that has a safe and escape proof enclosure. most of mine would eat out of our hand but we only had 1 that escaped and was successfully retrieved. he was out for over a week 2 different times but would come back to the yard every night until he was ready to go back inside. the others were never seen again. i never attempted clipping wings, and have since upgraded my netting and put a few other safeguards in place to help prevent escape.Update on the single baby pheasant - she's become quite friendly very suddenly. When I let her out to roam she seeks me out for company and happily eats out of my hand and doesn't mind being picked up! I'm stoked! I read that Ring neck pheasants are untameable, I say that's wrong![]()
