Pheasant Leg Growth

Hi can anyone please help me out.

I got hold of this silver pheasant recently. And at first i thought it was a cable tie on its leg.
But closer inspection showed its some sort of lump.
I would like to sort it out for the bird.

It eats its food and gets up to roost and manages to get around, but i would like to do what i can to help it.
Any advice please.

Looks like maybe it was injured in some way at one point and it's just healed back with a big scar or something.

That's what I was going to say. Look like where a band of some form was placed on him, he out grew it, but some one forgot to keep an eye on it and remove it. I have done it before myself on turkey poults, and they end up with a similar looking scar.

Are you saying the band is still on her and the skin grew over it somehow. ?

no, some times, if left on way too long, it will swell around the band, once removed, it will go down, but usually leaves a scar similar to what you have there. Should have been removed, or the foot would have fallen off. You should be in good shape!

Its just the lump is bigger in thickness than the leg, you would think it would be smaller after been squeezed by a tie before it was taken off.

It is when you first take it off, but when the blood flow returns, it usually swells, and heals, and leaves a scar.
If the entire leg looked like that, I'd say scaly leg mites. But I believe you just have a scared leg.

Does it limp or show any signs of pain associated with it?

I dont know of anything. If you get a chance, catch it up and see if it has full range of motion in it, flex the foot and leg to see if all the tendons move freely. I think it's just going to be that way, shouldnt be any ill effects I wouldnt think
