What species of pheasants would y’all consider the most people friendly or “tame”? currently dreaming of them for our urban homestead

None are, really. They also have to be kept in a large aviary far away from poultry and ducks as there are disease that chickens have and are immune to but kill pheasants.
They can't be kept like chickens, fed like chickens or lay like chickens. They aren't a sustainable like chickens or Quail for eggs or meat.

I’d say ringnecks are the best all around pheasant for your homestead. They don’t lay as much as chickens, but mine have been laying 6-7 eggs a week for the past two months. They absolutely can be raised with your other poultry, except in the spring you may run into issues with the pheasant roosters being aggressive to the chicken roosters.

I also hold my Ringnecks almost daily, but even if you just spend a decent amount of time in their pen they aren’t going to panic or be wild around you.
