i'm getting a male red golden, finding a female is like looking for a needle in a haystack, is it ok to put a ringneck hen or two in with him, if they breed no big deal, but i don't want him to be lonely

I haven't had pheasants in more than 50 years and things may have changed, but in my experience ringnecks (both c*cks and hens) were very aggressive toward my goldens and Lady Amherst pheasants.

I agree with JJ on that, besides, never good to keep two different species together especially of the opposite sex, also if you put ringneck hens in with him, you may find him dead one morning.

Females (at Least Grown Females) Will Remain Non-existant Thru The Summer But Likely Be Available In The Fall After Breeding Season Is Over. Since They Are True Seasonal Breeders Most Folks Will Hang On To Them Until Laying Season Is Finished... Then The Market Should Lighten Up A Bit And You'll Likely Find Some For Him, As Well As Juveniles Will Be Coming Available About The Same Time.
