I'm not sure what colors they are, but the pullet almost reminds me of a BBR. And the gold possibly looks like he may have some ginger genes in him (which can explain the relatively solid gold coloring), but I'm not completely sure. I do think that they definitely have some unusual genetics in them though.

So how was everyone's 2020 breeding season (hopefully good since 2020 itself was a hot mess 😂)? I'm going to post some pictures of some more 2020 Phoenix bantam keepers, but in the meantime here is the 2020 cockerel I'm going to be keeping from my black line. He's about 8 months old now.

Well, I discovered my male has red bleeding in his chest.

My pullets started to lay too and then something took their eggs. I got rid of my 5 extra males and have one left to cull. I had one that wound up with neurological issues that didn't make it. I kept a second male in case something happens to my main boy this winter. And I'm hoping to get some eggs this spring from outside sources

Sorry to hear all of the bad news, but you definitely have the right idea in getting some outside stock in the spring.

Yeah, I got my young trio from Stromberg and I'm rather liking them and they fit in with my older gals. Might move the secondary male along though if I can get one from a different source, preferably one of a different color

They sell hatching eggs when they're having good laying streaks
Thank you! I have a golden blue breasted hen a blue breasted red cockerel and a black breasted red Cockrell and some splash pullets i bought from a local that I believe are crossed with sumatras judging by the body look. Blue is my favorite. If I could create a solid blue rooster I would be heaven. Im about to start mixing in some blue games to try to get the color. I currently have a blue coal miner mug hen im mixing in to see what I will get.

It’s been another huge time since I posted... lots has happened. Been working hard. The two flocks were doing fine, the meat birds we raised as an experiment just up and died from what appeared to be genetic disorders, but then people started freaking out again over food supplies and people stole a bunch of our utility breeds and any friendly bantam too! Totally sucked rocks! Someone got all but one of my Phoenix Roosters because those boys were super friendly except the one.

Then a hawk killed my pretty antisocial Phoenix rooster we had left...

So we are rebuilding the chicken runs... going to make them harder for anything to get to the birds like hawks and thieves.

We do have hens left... Phoenix, Ayams, and Black Swedish... all fast feisty girls who don’t like stranger human contact. One hen is truly scary the sounds she makes when humans approach (she is all bluff... but it is Jurassic Park type sounds). So we are doing a major tear down, rebuild for security reasons... and will be replacing certain breeds. I ordered more Phoenix bantams for delivery in July. When we are further along in rebuild I might order hatching eggs of some breeds too. I want to get the yard secure as possible and improved. We have a lot to do this month and next.
