tooooooooooo cute....
do I see a few turkeys in the mix too....
We have ducks, chickens, geese, turkeys, guineas who all run together....Right now I have a muscovy hen who hatched out 3 baby cochin chicks, another muscovy hen who has 6 baby muscovys, and a turkey hen who thinks all the baby ducks should be her...........People are always confused when I tell them about it, and if they see it for them selves they are even more confused.....lol
Yup you see my Beltsville small white turkeys. I went from having 3 adult 'scovies last year to having 63 birds this year(not counting the ones I've sold) and a female scovy who has gone broody again for the 3rd time this year and is on 20 eggs.
What do you do w/them in the winter? I over wintered five ducks for the first time last year and made them stay inside with a heat lamp for their water. Pretty messy! At least compared to the geese and chickens. Our weather must be similar so please tell me how yours winter because I've got a Cayuga on eggs now...(mine are Cayuga's and Magpies, one was crested but the Cayuga drakes removed her crest while mating her.)
My coop is insulated and their body heat itself is warm enough to keep their water from freezing. It is warm in there in the winter. I don't keep mine locked up, they have access to go out on all but the coldest days. My scovies don't mind the cold, the rest pretty much stay in doors.
HA! I love it!! I'd love to see mine running around like that..........I just can't have 3 dogs (and me) tracking in all that poop in the house. I guess it really wouldn't matter, the dogs took care of the carpet when they were puppies.........and still like to reminisce and add another spot now and then!
