Photos always open in new tab when I use Chrome

If I'm on Firefox, when I click a picture in a thread, it gives me a pop up where I can scroll right to see more photos from the thread, but on chrome pictures always open into a new tab instead. Is there a way to fix this? I have Adblock, which I don't need for this site (so I added byc to my exemption list), but the issue remains. I'd like some help figuring out how to fix it. Thank you!

They all opened in new tabs. It might be because I'm using a Chromebook (basically a glorified tablet). I might try instyalling the app and see what happens - it barely works on my phone, but it may do better on the chromebook

Yeah, I think it's something browser related, the lightbox opens fine for me on Chrome 75 with Windows 10, but I also have a Chrome OS device that I'll test later.

Do you have an actual computer you could try it on? I use chrome and it shows up properly for me on my laptop and desktop. (I think my phone does ok too, but that's safari)

I can try on the laptop I gave my mom. I also went to try installing the app on my chromebook, but I guess I can't? It isn't showing on the play store

Also, make sure that Chrome OS is updated to the latest version on your device.

It seems to be incompatible. That's probably why lightbox isn't working on here either. Notebook computers really aren't the greatest, but it was on sle and works fine for basic browsing lol thank you for your help.
