Oh man...I think this is going to be another nice one! Keep us posted with pics as it comes along! It's really nice to see a footprint that's something other than a rectangle! Looking forward to watching this one!

awesome start. I have a problem too. I went to the store for 15 hen ( to replace a dog attack). and came home with 28. wow and I just got 4 more earlier today. that is 15 + 28 + 4 = 47. Holy cow. I didn't even realize till now.

Hello All!

This past week it seemed everyone was working against us in getting the coop done. We started on Monday putting up wall sections. I figured on the smaller sections first, and save the big straight wall section until the end so it would be supported by the smaller sections.

On Tuesday, we figured out where the door would be placed, and built the wall sections for the remaining portion of the front and one side. We started to figure out where we were going to put the windows as well. Normally you would figure out where the windows would go before building the walls, but some of us here are backwards.

Here is where things go downhill...
Tuesday evening the building inspector made a surprise visit to the first coop and said the run is too small. We explained that we understood that but it was impossible to put posts into the frozen tundra here in January. We paid him to turn his back with a little scratch...

Wednesday and Thursday, Mother Nature turned ugly on us and we had rain.
Friday and Saturday Jack Frost paid us a visit, afraid we had forgotten about him. WE ONLY GOT 2" OF SNOW. About 100 miles northwest of us got close to 18"!!! But isn't it APRIL 26th?????

It was too wet and cold to pound nails.
Today is Sunday and we are outside and back at it... More pictures and progress later tonight (we hope)!

Wow, that is going to be a gigantic coop! How many chickens are you planning to keep in there? Hee hee.

I love the big, black rooster in one of the first few photos you posted. He's so big and fluffy with pretty sickles! What breed is he?
