Hello - we spent every daylight hour this weekend building a run onto our new Cedar Grove Products 4x6 coop. The chicks were under our feet the entire time supervising. Several times we had 2-3 on the ladder with us - making sure that we were doing this correctly!

Here are some pictures to give you an idea of what we are working on. The run is 9 x 14 and we can walk into it. We haven't put the screen door on it yet, but we plan on adding that this week.

The run has mesh netting over the top and we'll add plastic roofing (on an angle toward the back fence) above the netting to keep the run dry.

Thanks. It is definitely a labor of chicken love for us! We started out with 3 pullets about 3 years ago. We have one of the original three remaining - Gladys of Great Girth! She and her friend, Granny (a loaner hen from our neighbor to keep her company after the death of Ida a few weeks ago) have been adjusting to the arrival of the six new chicks. The chicks will be six weeks old this week...

Tomorrow will be their first full day in the new run. They are currently closed up in the new coop for the night. They were not happy when I closed them up in there...kept try to fly to the coop windows to see me.

I am off to go check on them before I head to bed...it's been a long, busy, and productive weekend of coop/run building for us!

I LOVE MY CHICKS!

Beautifully done.... will you be adding some landscaping around the run? I've seen this coop on the internet; are you pleased with it?
Your entire set up looks really nice. The girls seem to be enjoying things, also.

I think we are going to put honeysuckle or clematis around the outside of the run to help it blend in more...the chicken wire is green this go 'round in hopes of having it blend in more with the yard. More pictures to come.

I just let the chicks out of the coop for their first full day in the new run. We are expecting rain/thunderstorms tonight so I suppose we'll see how everything holds up.

The coop itself is very well made and came pre-assembled. It was a great investment and saved us some time and maybe a bit of money (but not too much!
