Near Disneyland!
They are still in the incubator but the brooder is ready! What do you all think? I plan to remove the clamp part and zip tie the metal lamp shade to the wire...

Yeah its the cloth-like kind...under it I have that no skid stuff...I will probably just take it out then. I was trying to make clean up easier!

It should work... wait until JJ or someone else sees this to make sure.

I use paper towels, and i got splay leg a lot.

I add a layer of grit, because that's what I keep on hand, to the floor of my brooder pens, so the babies won't slip & get splay leg. You might set your light to where it can be adjusted up & down, to regulate the temp. in the box.

So I ended up going and getting the metal shade because the other one did not focus the heat as well. Looks to be about 92 under the light and about 82 on the opposite side.

LOOKS GOOD... I WAS GOING TO SUGGEST THE SHADE BUT I SEE YOU FIGURED IT OUT

YOU CAN CHANGE TEMPERATURES IN THERE TO A DEGREE BY CHANGING BULB WATTAGES. THE ONLY SUGGESTION I WOULD MAKE AND CAN BE DONE AT A LATER TIME... INSTEAD OF THE WIRE RACK COVERING THE HO;E IN THE LID YOU CAN STRING CHICKEN WIRE ACROSS IT AND ZIP TIE IT IN PLACE, THIS MAKES THE SET UP MORE STABLE. ALSO GIVEN THEIR LOVE FOR DROWNING I SET THE FOOD DIERCTLY UNDER THE LIGHT AND THE WATER FARTHEST AWAY FROM THE LIGHT... THEY WILL INSTINCTIVELY SEEK WATER BUT MUST LEARN TO EAT. USE THEIR HEAT SEEKING BEHAVIOR TO YOUR ADVANTAGE MAKE THE FOOD THE WARMEST SPOT AND THE WATER THE COOLEST. OH AND A NICE SHINEY DIME ON TOP OF THE FOOD ATTRACTS ATTENTION FROM LIL INQUISITIVE MINDS
