Picked out my 8 RIB's today

Feed store called earlier this afternoon so I could pick out my RIB's. Purchased a 40lb bag of Nature's Best Organic Chick starer/grower will mill date of March 31, 2025 from TSC. Brought them home and finished setting up my coop and brooder inside. Filled it with pine pellets, feed, heat plate, waterer with electrolytes. Closed the awning windows to keep out the breeze.

Update on chicks the first morning. They are active and eating and drinking. They drank good amount of eater last night and took them out put in a box for fresh air and sun to check for pasty butt. Cleaned the pasty butt on one.

Update on chicks built a perch, drinking fresh water and cover to keep them inside brooder box inside coop with heat plate. Put them outside in a wooden box for fresh air, sunlight, and temp has been warm where I am located in Florida .

Built them a run that is covered on all sides with a box going to slowly let them it for short periods in the next week.

They are a hybrid cross between a Rhode Island Red and the Australorp.

Let the chicks out for short time before putting back in coop. Rowdy was watching while guarding them. First dirt bath for some and they enjoyed being in the covered box. With wood that flips with netting for access and protection once closed.
