Picked to death!!

Yes,chickens can do it for boredom,some because of lacking protein will feather pick,but if a sore is open and they can taste blood they will keep picking that spot too.Sometimes even on their own body.
That's why many give greens and hang them,through scratch in the shavings, little things to keep them busy. Will

I don't think it's rodents.

But then again I could never be sure. I just built the coop this past spring and feel I did a pretty good job. There aren't any openings I know of. Of course they could be getting in through the door when it's open during the day I guess.

I cleaned up the clutter to give them more room, laid down some fresh shavings, and put up a couple more feeders to distract them. I also saturated with hotpick the butts of the ones who were being picked on really bad. I was amazed to see one of my buffs kind of nip at the feathers of another one. They seemed to have been the ones who are getting nailed worse than anybody.

If they need extra protein should I feed them chick starter or something? Something else?
